Although I expect Harrods and like shops sell them I can’t ever remember seeing quail for sale in Tesco’s or Sainsbury’s but here in Spain they are sold in virtually every supermarket and butcher. We bought ours in the local supermarket at around €5.00  (£3.91) for four birds which is enough for a main course for two although as a starter one bird per person would suffice. There are lots of recipes on t’internet but we simply roast ours on the BBQ for between 20 and 30 minutes and serve with a salad. We are also very fond of the little quail eggs which are rich, very creamy and go well in a salad and are often served on a slice of bread with “bacon” for a light lunch.
