Site No 127 - Camping Canelas

One of two sites in Armação de Pêra a summer seaside resort. The sit has a mix of static and touring pitches and although the seasonal pitch holders utilise every square inch of their pitch and the one next door if they can get away with it, unlike some Portuguese and Spanish permanent pitches they are all well kept and modern.

The staff on site are friendly and helpful and the access roads are tight but not panic inducing but many pitches would be unusable for a van like ours without a mover.

Electricity is supplied at 6 or 10 amps with 10 amps costing an extra 50 euro cents per night. There is no way of actually telling what power you have unless, like us you overload the cutoff and everything goes dark after which one of the site staff will come along reset the trip and make sure you are plugged into a 10 amp supply. One other thing to note with electricity here is that all the supply boxes are on one side of the site road if like us your pitch is on the other side you must pull your cable though a pipe under the road with a draw wire. When it rains the pipe fills with water so you need to make sure everything is disconnected before pulling it back - no, I know you wouldn’t be daft enough to do that but it has happened. There are four or five facilities blocks all without seats, paper and towels but they did have soap and sanitiser. The showers could do with updating but were clean and with abundant hot water.

Not the best site we have stayed on by far away from the worst, we would stay there again but on arrival I would go 50 meters past the site round the roundabout and enter the site turning left across the traffic and giving more of a chance to enter the site without tearing off the wheel arch as I did.
